This book is truly precious!!! It’s somewhat of a niche item but would be the PERFECT gift for the little Texan baby in your life! With a mix between important Texas locations, local heroes, sports teams, special Texan words & phrases, foods, wildlife, and more there’s a lot to enjoy in this little board book.
As a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan I was so happy to see they were included within the first page! (How ‘bout them Cowboys?!) and as a fan of the state I really appreciate the humor and reverence in 100 First Words for Little Texans. I also really liked the artwork on each page!

This was such a cute board book and my 4-year-old Texan kiddo loved it! He had so much fun pointing out every word he knew and chatting about all the things he loves. Definitely a fun pick for any little Lone Star baby. 🤠
Thanks NetGalley for the arc!

Texas Time Y’All
I think this is a Texas pop culture staple baby gift to give. It’s uniquely Texas and brings some sass to a future Texan.
The illustrations were cute ranging from brisket to Selena and Matthew McConaughey.
This book would make a super cute gift for a Texan intended baby.
I received a copy of this book from Christopher Robbins and Familius. I have elected to leave a review. All opinions are my own.

Cute illustrations. This is a good one for your 3-5 year olds who are familiar with more advanced vocabulary and can connect to a theme.
I will say kids this age may have appreciated alphabetical order.

Adorable. This is such a cute book. I love the illustrations and the good variety of words. This book would make a great gift for a baby shower or little kids birthday.

100 First Words for Little Texans is an absolutely adorable book for little ones! The charming illustrations beautifully capture the spirit of the Lone Star State. Perfect for young Texans or anyone wanting to share a bit of Texas pride, this delightful read makes a wonderful gift for the little cowboys and cowgirls in your life!
A huge thanks to NetGalley, author Christopher Robbins, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this advance copy.

As a Native Texan, I thought this book was cute. The pictures were well done and the words were definitely related to Texas, many of them kind of “inside jokes” for Texans that Texan parents reading this to their kids will get a kick out of.

This was a cute little book. I read it to my 3 year old Texan daughter. She loved the artwork! I think there are a couple of typos. Next to the Nolan Ryan picture, it says Express instead of Nolan Ryan. And for LBJ the picture is a woman.

There are a lot of good words in this book that will help little ones build their vocabularies, but some of them are a bit advanced. However, I will say that I really appreciated the semi-multilingual aspect of the book. It was especially fitting because this book is intended for "little Texans", and many people there speak both English and Spanish. Another positive aspect of this book was the illustrations. They made a lot of sense and matched the words perfectly, which greatly assists in the learning process.
Although, despite these upsides, I did find two downsides. The first one is the title of this book is just a "tiny" bit misleading. There are an awful lot of TERMS that just singular WORDS, so there was a little bit of confusion there. Lastly, the other downside was a few of the terms/words were just a bit advanced. It's great to use some challenging words in order to expand vocabularies, but there's a limit. I think that refining this book a tad would help a lot while still maintaining the central purpose and meaning of the book.

100 First Words for Little Texans is a fun and colorful board book that helps little ones learn new words with a Texas twist. It features bright illustrations and introduces words like “rodeo,” “barbecue,” and “bluebonnet” alongside everyday vocabulary. There were a few words that I didn’t understand the connection for Texas, but overall really like it.
The sturdy pages make it perfect for young hands, and parents will love the mix of learning and Texas pride. Whether you're a Texan or just love the state, this book is a great pick for babies and toddlers!
Thank you to NetGalley for the e-ARC!

I picked up this book because of my Texan husband who was so excited to share his love of Texas with our kids only to be met with partial disappointment when my oldest said “ Give it a zero star, I don’t like it all”.
The adult reviewers only had two critiques of the book. First, is the LBJ supposed to be Lady Bird Johnson or a reference to the president? Second, some of the phrases were unexpected. Isn’t saying all hat and no cattle an insult reserved for bars?
Overall, the illustrations were cute with some fun choices. The Texan appreciated the inclusion of noteworthy and famous Texans and was especially relieved to see the blue bonnets included. Missed opportunity was Blue Bell Ice Cream, the greatest Texas export.
