The latest from Narwhal and Jelly hits it out of the park. Loved how this one centred around Jelly’s point of view and the callouts to other titles in the series. It got lots of giggles out of my 6 year old co-reader. As always, expect oodles of waffles.

In this latest installment, Narwhal informs Jelly it is PAL-entines Day. While the ultimate lesson in the end of this story is both clever and important (being in each other’s “presence” is more important than giving “presents”) the middle of this book kind of felt like slop. The characters are cute as usual, and themes of friendship are always a plus, but this title definitely falls short for me. It is a bit too far on the “random” side of things to want to recommend to a library kid. It seems to jump from thing to thing and maybe an immature sense of humor would eat this up, but from an adult lens it really didn’t offer much that I would particularly want to put in front of a kid. Jelly is patient while everyone else seems to be on distracted tangents. The same lesson can be taught in other books and more tastefully. I won’t go out of my way to recommend, but it is definitely an easy graphic novel read for beginners. Cute pictures with nothing particularly offensive.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC! Some how I always seem to miss the latest Narwhal and Jelly so it was nice to read one WAY in advance.

It's time to celebrate best friends! Jelly gives Narwhal a card expressing all things loved being Narwhal's bestie. And looking forward to the exciting adventures for the day that they will share. But Narwhal gets distracted trying to tell Jelly how wonderful they are ---- and finally Jelly just has to put a stop to it all. While Narwhal is trying to build an actual friend ship.

Clanton includes a nice discussion of symbiotic relationships. And there are lots and lots and lots of waffles. Plus a running gag based on "See you later, alligator." It will be fun to see what kind of farewell kids can create.

I can't wait to buy a physical copy of A Waffle Lot of Love! for my first grade classroom. I know that it will be an instant hit when I share my advanced reader's copy with them next week. The chapters are perfect for brain breaks. The comic book style and cute illustrations will capture their attention. Narwhal and Jelly already have a place in my classroom, and this book will fit in nicely.

Thank you to Tundra Book Group and NetGalley for my advanced reader's copy. Opinions expressed are my own.

Narwhal and Jelly are such a lovable duo. There are times that the jokes either go over my kids head or become tiresome (so many puns), but my boys both love the stories and the wholesome friendship and cute illustrations are always a favorite in our house.

Another perfect Narwhal and Jelly book from Ben Clanton! Narwhal goes way overboard trying to show Jelly just how much he means to him. So many waffles!

Jelly and Narwhal are at it again in their 10th adventure together! This book did not disappoint and had some laugh-out-loud moments, but also heartfelt scenes, just like you would expect if these two. In the book we explore the friendship between jelly and narwhal and embark on a new adventure with them.
