Ghost Food is a really cute Halloween cookbook! I am always on the lookout for fun Halloween recipes, and this has TONS. I liked the variety in difficulty levels. Much of what makes the recipes "spooky" is the decorations so you can also take them as fun ways to decorate box cake mixes in many instances if you want to do something easy.
Thanks to NetGalley, Cayla Gallagher, and Skyhorse Publishing for the chance to read and review! My opinions are my own!

I LOVED this! There couldn’t be a better baking book for the spooky / Fall season! It is packed full of creative, inspiring, and original ideas, beyond perfect for the holiday season. It had way more recipes than I expected, some easy ones, some more adventurous, and everything in between! There’s even a couple of savoury recipes! Whether you’re looking for cute, or outrageously gross, this has it ALL! With helpful photographs, clear step by step instructions, this book has all you need for you to get your spook on. The only question is, what to bake first?
Would definitely recommend!
With thanks to Netgalley, and Skyhorse Publishing, for an e-ARC to read and review.

*Ghost Food* by Cayla Gallagher is a delightful Halloween-themed cookbook that’s perfect for spooky season baking and beyond. I really enjoyed the wide variety of treats included—there’s something for everyone, whether you’re looking for creepy-cute cookies, festive cupcakes, or full-on showstopping desserts. The recipes are well-written and easy to follow, with clear instructions that make even the more elaborate creations feel approachable.
The photography in the book is another standout feature. Each treat is beautifully captured, giving a great visual reference for what the finished product can look like. It really adds to the inspiration and makes you want to try out every single recipe. I’d give *Ghost Food* a solid 4 out of 5 stars—it's creative, fun, and perfect for anyone who loves to celebrate Halloween with a little extra flair in the kitchen. Thanks to NetGalley and Skyhorse Publishing for the advanced reader copy!

This is a delightful little cookbook jam packed with all things spooky, from ghosties to pumpkins, cakes and pies to sprinkles and seasonings, marshmallow skulls and zombie brains, cauldrons and charcuteries and cats (oh my!)
The recipes are easy to follow for an intermediate baker, and the book dives in to them all without any preamble. There's a clear photo accompanying each recipe you know what look you're aiming for at the end of it all. A couple of the recipes were truly gross looking (worms and eyeballs - you'll see when you get there), which 100% is the point! But the bats and cats and rats and everything that use the candy eyes are adorably goofy
I did find some of the recipe order a little curious, referencing items that come several pages later, and it would have been nice to have had a list of necessary "extra" equipment at the start of the book, or at the start of each recipe, so you know what you need (and yes, I know we need to read the whole thing before we start! But a handy list of extras alongside the ingredients would be nice). As this is a US book, some of the ingredients are regional, and there is a conversion guide in the back for metric measurements.
I'll definitely be making some of these recipes. As it's autumn where I am right now, I can't wait to make the hot choc bombs over the school holidays for a spiced, spooky treat!

This wonderful recipe book is full of yummy and easy to follow recipes as well as photos. Use this book for your next Halloween party and your treats are sure to be a hit!

If you’re planning a Halloween party (or need an excuse for one), this cookbook is a treat! It’s filled with cute, fun ideas for spooky sweets. Some of the recipes are a bit light on decorating directions, and could benefit from step-by-step pictures for those of us less creatively inclined, but overall it’s filled with lots of good Halloween inspiration!

Adorable Halloween sweets cookbook for a medium to advanced baker!
Every recipe has a clear final picture to go with it. Very little to no narrative text at the beginning of the book, beginning of sections, or beginning of recipes. Some recipes require special equipment but that equipment is not noted at the beginning of the recipe.
Several recipes I am interested in trying this Halloween!
Many thanks to the publisher for an eARC via NetGalley!

I recieved a digital ARC of this book from the publisher and NetGalley in exhchange for review.
This book is jam packed with lots of different recipes of varying skill levels for Halloween. I loved the range of different options, the themed sections, and that it had a photo to accompany each recipe. Almost all of the recipes are sweet in some way, but I still enjoyed all the options and I can’t wait to make some of these myself. I also enjoyed the creativity and that some of the recipes were adorable while others were spooky/creepy so it really encapsulated the holiday for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Ghost Food.
I ❤️❤️❤️ Halloween so Ghost Food was right up my alley.
The recipes are funny and boo00tiful and I loved the addition to making googly eyes of your own.
Most of the recipes I've seen in other Halloween themed books but there were a few I hadn't seen before and I appreciate the originality and unique versions by the author.
The recipes are organized by themes and though some of them are labor intensive, they're not hard to make.
There's a photo for each recipe which I always appreciate.
What better time than now to plan what treats to make since we're six months away from Halloween? 🎃👻🍭🍫🧟

Fun ideas for spooky season treats. I enjoyed the inclusion of decorative baked goods ideas and the recipes to make your own decorative eyes, edible blood, and marshmallows. The pictures for each recipe are great.
I’m especially excited to try the cookie cake recipes!
The conversion chart is handy. I will update review after trying some of the recipes.
This is a straightforward recipe book without additional commentary

Ghost Food has such fun recipes! I look forward to attempting to make some of them once it gets closer to Halloween, specifically the cookies. I enjoyed how it was broken up into recipes reflecting a certain creature, such as vampires, witches, and ghosts, rather than by type of recipe. It makes it easier to use for themed parties of all kinds! I highly recommend for anyone who would like a wide variety of recipes and spooky topics.
Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC.

This book is so cute and the perfect guide for all your Halloween baking. I cannot wait to make some of these recipes with my niece this fall.
I really appreciate the variety in the book, both in terms of difficulty and items. There are elaborate cakes (the Haunted House Cake looks awesome) if you want a challenge, but there are also options for quick snacks like the Marshmallow Bats. I like that there are a variety of hot chocolate bomb recipes as well as one for pumpkin ice cream - it's not just baked good!
I love that there's a picture to accompany every recipe too!
Can't wait to bake some spooky goods! 👻 🎃

The recipes included in this cookbook were all so fun and spooky. The instructions and ingredients lists were clear and easily understandable. I feel confident that I will be able to replicate these recipes for future events! The pictures included to show the final products were adorable and high quality. Highly recommend this cookbook for anyone who loves spooky season and baking!

I love baking and making all kinds of treats, so I'm always on the lookout for interesting recipes to delight my family.
At first, the cute cover caught my attention, but inside, there are plenty of beautiful photos that give you a clear idea of the final result.
The book features 75 recipes of varying difficulty and for every taste—cakes—including no-bake options—cookies, drinks, and other sweet treats. There’s also a metric conversions table at the end, which is super convenient.
I’ve already picked a few recipes I plan to make for Halloween, though I’m not sure we’ll wait until fall—my daughter is already asking me to bake them sooner!
I’m sure you’ll find delicious recipes that will impress your family and guests.
Thank you to NetGalley and Skyhorse Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Oh, this is CUTE! I have found my new go-to Halloween baking book. This book is full of adorable, fun, and easy recipes for me to enjoy with my kids (5yo and 9yo). I love the clear and artful photos that display the festive finished product. If I could make only one suggestion: I'd probably like a few more step-by-step photos... but even that isn't necessary since the directions are very clear and easy to follow. I also appreciated how the recipes are organized into themed sections. Well done! Thank you, NetGalley!

Anyone who loves making Halloween treats will want to immediately pick up Ghost Food: 75 Spooky, Fun, and Frightening Halloween-Inspired Sweet Treats. This adorable cookbook includes mostly sweet treats that are cute and clever. There are dozens of recipes, some unique, and some that many of us have been making for years with a different twist.
This cookbook will be one that children will want to make almost everything. Bakers will have fun creating the cute treats. Anyone who has an annual Halloween BOO-ffet will want to use several of the recipes to put on display. Many of the recipes are quite easy, but all of them are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that make it easy or both beginning and advanced cooks to make picture perfect treats.
The cookbook includes beautiful, professional photographs of each of the recipes. The photographs are bright and colorful and make the instruction even more appealing. These are treats that actually taste good.
All told, this is an excellent holiday cookbook that is highly recommended for anyone who likes Halloween. This is one to give all of us great ideas for using food to not only eat, but decorate our homes. Fun! Fun! Fun!
Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I'll admit, I figured this would be full of silly and simple recipes, but it is elevated so much more than I thought and full of some really great and creative recipes, not only do they look good, but they sound good. I do wish there was more of a variety for the cakes, and offering different flavors, they seem to mostly have the same recipe with just a different design. I was also thrown off my the dog in the photo with a cake, it made it appear like it was a dog friendly recipe, but didn't specify.

Whether you’re a librarian, teacher, or a parent, this cookbook offers a fun way to engage children in a hands-on activity that’s not only fun but also perfect for getting into the Halloween mood!
The recipes are divided into themed sections—and many require minimal cooking and are perfect for making in a classroom or library setting. You can microwave or freeze several of the treats, making them an ideal activity for groups of kids.
The book’s spooky aesthetic is adorable, there’s a playful tone, and easy-to-follow instructions. It’s a fantastic way to introduce children to cooking while keeping them entertained and engaged in a seasonal theme. Plus, it’s an excellent resource for libraries or classrooms where you want to mix education with a bit of Halloween fun.
It doesn’t overwhelm young readers with complex techniques, allowing them to feel accomplished after each spooky creation.

Oh my goodness it is all too cute! I love Halloween and especially Halloween baking. This cookbook has so many nostalgic as well as fresh ideas. My favorites were the haunted house cake and the cauldron brownies, which I am absolutely going to make for my friend's annual witches night party. Thank you netgalley for the e arc
