Honestly, Alex Beecroft can do no wrong in my opinion. Her books are so so so good. The writing, storytelling, emotions evoked are outstanding and she's one of the most underrated authors out there.

Blue-Eyed Stranger was an interesting read since the author typically write historicals (so brilliantly) and I haven't read a contemporary from her. But I should have known I would not be disappointed.

Really enjoyed this.

I’ve never been involved in a reenactment club or society, but here we have two MCs who are each in a different one and seem to enjoy the hobby very much. Martin’s group are Vikings while Billy’s are Morris Dancers.
The descriptions of the costumes is so interesting I can almost see them, and in fact, looked some up. Very elaborate!
Martin and Billy begin a serious relationship because they are already involved in similar hobbies and see a connection there. The next bobble in the road is the fact that they are gay. Martin is not out, and he is of a biracial heritage. His racist boss hides her dislike of him behind the fact that she objects to his hobby and causes him to lose his teaching position.
Billy is severely depressed and when his condition is at its worst he becomes almost paralyzed and unable to move forward. There are very few sexual scenes and their relationship is on the low burner, but because of the historical descriptions and the romance I was swept up in the story. A nice romance.
