This was such a good read! Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it. Thank you for this advance reading copy!

Thomas is a young lad gagging to leave Oklahoma – the three-centre holiday the family has planned will be a great corrective to the dull landscape, tornadoes and dry history around him. But when he reaches the big city – which may or may not have some slight resemblance to NYC – he finds it a rat-infested, noisy hellhole. Next then is the beach, but this proves to have major faults as well – and as for hiking in the mountains, why it's just tree after tree and effort on top of effort. Is it no wonder the book ends with the title and cover image?
This is fun, and really easy to read – but it is too obvious, and too obviously just of benefit to the inhabitants of one state. I don't know what jingoism is called if it refers to just one US state as opposed to the full country, but this has it. The book is welcome for its message and pride, but not for the inhabitants of 49 out of the 50, it won't be. A very niche four stars.
