I enjoyed this 2nd full length book in the K-9 Rescue Series by D.D. Ayres. It was a good follow up to Irresistible Force. I'm a real stickler about reading books of a series in order, but this one could seriously be read as a stand alone with no negative aspects involved.
While I didn't care for their back story or the reason their marriage imploded while Scott was working undercover, I did like both of the main characters. Scott Lucca and Nikki (Cole) Jamieson were great characters, although all of her names were annoying. I didn't understand why she had suddenly decided to be called Cole after their marriage dissolved, and didn't think Cole suited her in the least. In the beginning, because of that, I kept getting confused and thinking Cole was a different character.
The storyline was a good one of these two being put on the same task force to work an investigation. They had to move past some of their issues with one another in order to successfully work together. The second chance romance between Scott and Cole was enjoyable, and the two dogs, Hugo and Izzy, made the book!
