This book has been lingering on my NetGalley shelves for ... years. I've thoroughly enjoyed Christina's books in the past, but I just kept putting this one off for some reason. Would I have enjoyed it more back in 2015 when I originally downloaded it? Maybe. I ended up DNFing about 25% of the way in because I just couldn't get into it. Normally I love second chance romance, but this one just wasn't grabbing me. It might have been due to the emphasis on the suspense/mystery part of the heroine's father's death. Regardless, it wasn't working for me so I'm cutting it loose.
This was just okay for me. Maybe it was timing... I tried to start it several times but just couldn't get into it. Dakota and Shane reconnecting seems way to easy to me and I didn't always get their connection. I think it's because this felt like more suspense than romance. It was there, it just didn't feel like it was at the forefront. I'm a sucker for a second chance romance so I did finish because I wanted to see how it all played out though I skimmed the second half to get there. I've loved Christina Lee's other books but this one just didn't work for me.
