The Happy Hour Choir is a sweet, funny, and charming novel about forgiveness and faith. I enjoyed reading this sweet book.
I enjoyed this book far more than I expected to. I was intrigued immediately by the cover and the description but I was hesitant to read it because I was not looking for read religious fiction. Fortunately for me, this was a wonderful tale about faith, friendship, and community; but it should be said, if you are looking to read something that might be categorized as Christian fiction, this is not that book. This book tells a story of life in the south (which often offers up a heavy dose of church and faith) and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Being a first-time author, I wasn't sure what to expect from Sally Kilpatrick but after The Happy Hour Choir, I would definitely read more of her work. The main character, Beulah, is a well-rounded firecracker and I was instantly taken in by her story. The book does not necessarily offer up any unexpected twists but it is an engaging tale that I would definitely recommend to others.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. I was intrigued by the premise, but unfortunately the story contained far too much swearing to hold my interest or to allow me to recommend it to our website's readers. Rather than post a negative review, since the book just wasn't the right fit, I won't be reviewing it at all.
