I really did enjoy this book and I did purchase this for my library (ebook). Way back in 2015 I was only using NetGalley for collection development not for reviews. Apologize for this very very late review.

Shupe pushes the boundaries of Regency romance, with characters who aren't the typical fare of romance novels, and with a rockier path to the happy-ever-after that's sometimes found in the genre. The romance is believable and layered, and the writing is deft.

Simon and Maggie are very well done, and the story itself is entertaining and engaging. The book does seem to drag at some points, so it may have benefited from being a little shorter. Other than that, the second-chance at love aspect is lovely.
