This is one of the titles I’ve revisited from my review list, and while too much time has passed to recall every detail, certain elements have lingered in my memory. Overall, it’s a well-crafted read with commendable strengths. The character development is particularly noteworthy, adding depth and relatability that make the story resonate. The narrative pacing is thoughtfully balanced—engaging without feeling rushed or overly drawn out—allowing the plot to unfold naturally. While it may not top my list of all-time favorites, I love these Christian fiction novels that present an engaging story in a wholesome manner. it’s a satisfying and worthwhile addition to any collection.

The Last Con spans centuries of mystery surrounding the relics of the Knights of Malta. It is rich in legend, deceit, and thievery alongside of family, grace, and forgiveness. The struggle between doing what is right and doing what you want speaks loudly and is felt by readers, not only through the characters in the book, but in their own lives as well. The characters are at the same time loveable and frustrating, and always highly relatable. And of course, Bartels throws in a twist at the end that leaves readers stunned.
