Tell The Story to its End follows Oli, who has traveled to the country with his mom to visit his uncle and aunt. Oli can feel that something is wrong, but no one will explain to him why his father is not joining them. Once he goes into the attic, he discovers a creature who feeds on stories, and he wants Oli to tell his story.

I would have really liked this had it not been super disjointed. The discovery of Eren's name was not explained and made very little sense within the context of the book, and it jumps back and forth in the timeline which makes for a very confusing story.

I think Simon P. Clark did a pretty good job of maintaining an eerie atmosphere of a child knowing that something was wrong but not being given any answers as to why, the twist at the ending was very cool, and there are some very beautiful lines about writing and storytelling, but I feel like there was room to make the story less confusing because even looking back after I read it, I still don't really know what is going on. I did really like the apple story, though, that one was great.

This is the kind of book you read not really knowing what was going on, and you keep reading because you NEED to know. In the end everything comes together and finds the perfect sense. Definitely a dark and mysterious novel, perfect for Halloween time, but maybe non so perfect for middle grade. I highly recommend to a little bit older readers ♥
