I really enjoyed Sophia and Gabriel in the prior Thornbrooke Park books, but their story really left me wanting a lot more out of them. I'm not sure how many times a couple can mis-communicate (even in historical periods), but they definitely surpassed that number by a lot. Both tried too hard to change who they were, and it kept backfiring repeatedly like they were speaking different languages. It just got really hard to read after the fourth or fifth time. I would have much preferred to read more about the other romance (no spoilers) that was going on in the background. It sounded far more interesting and fun.

This was an interesting book in the series. The blurb insisting that if you are a fan of Downton Abbey you will like this book is misleading. Other than the fact that it is set in Edwardian times there really is no similarity. The pacing is slow but the characters are well developed and the plot is good.

A kiss, a crumbling marriage and the desire to make things right. Could Sophia convince her husband that he's the only man she truly wants? Would he believe her despite what he "saw?" If only she could tell him.

Discover a story rich in detail set at a grand estate with enough sizzle to make the pages tingle ;)
