Pastel Orphans is based during World War II. Henrik and his younger sister, Greta, live in Germany at the beginning of the war. Their father is Jewish and their mother is christian, although their fathermade the decision to become Catholic in order to marry their mother and has practiced Catholicism ever since, Therefore, Henrik and Greta don't even know that they are Jewish. Of course, None of this matters to Hitler, When their father becomes ill, Henrik and Greta move back to Poland with their mother. Henrik looks similar to his father and Greta looks like her mother. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, exactly the type of child that the Nazis want to carry on their race. Because of this, the Nazi's kidnap her one day and Henrik decides to do whatever it takes to find her and bring her back. With his mind always on his sister, Henrik does not give up even when the odds are stacked against him.

Overall, a great story about the 'pastel orphans' that were taken from their parents to be bred to maintain the 'perfect Aryan race'. Though most of the story did not focus on the orphans, it was very interesting and I enjoyed reading it.

I read this novel some time ago and somehow I had totally overlooked leaving a review. I have read some excellent novels similar to this book, but this one in my view, is the best. A story that I shall read again one day.

My review has been posted on Goodreads and Amazon.
