Forsaken was listed at the first book in the Shadow Cove Saga, but there was never another written, and I can see why. This is a book within a book. It is a combination of Horror, Paranormal (witches) and erotica, not things I normally read. This has been on my shelf since 2014, so I decided to give it a try, not remembering what it was even about. It was definitely not for me. Thad McAllister suddenly becomes a best selling author following his wife's purchase of an old leather journal as a gift for him from a store called "Needful Things". Unfortunately, things purchased from the store all have another price, a non-monetary one. The price for Thad was someone "she" wanting to come back. The story has a dual narrative, Thad's current day life and that of "She" at the witches trials in 1692. I skimmed quite a bit of this book, especially any of the open door scenes. There is a marriage falling apart, creepy scenes in the past, and more. If you enjoy books dealing with witches and paranormal activity, this will be right up your alley. My rating is low as it was not one that I enjoyed, however, it is well written, and certainly creepy, which was the author's intention, but just because it was not my cup of tea, doesn't mean others won't love it.

I'm sorry I was not able to read and review this book before it was archived due to serious health issues.

What a thrilling novel that has been compared to quite an incredible variety of authors.
I guess when one does so your expectations raise just that little bit..
Although this novel was a compelling suspenseful read, I believe being connected to the characters is a huge deal. I could not connect with these characters and was thoroughly disappointed.
The plot however redeemed itself slightly bringing lots of twists and turns to this promising novel.
I love how not only is this a fictional read, I felt as though I was learning something from the historical Salem trials which I believe wholeheartedly happened.
The way the author was able to go from present day to pieces of a journal was a great addition to a unique style novel that can be either a hit or miss.
I'm so lucky to have been able to review this novel
