I do feel that this book should have been published as the first in the series as it is Josh's accident that is the catalyst for everything that happened with the Bachelor auction, so it would have been nice to read about that first.

Gabriel has been hiding a secret from everyone and has hidden himself alone in a cabin in the woods a two hour walk away for the nearest place a car can get too. Quite daft really when you realise how injured the guy is.

Molly is a strong woman, but after a young marriage and subsequent divorce and her brothers death she is lovely and at 29 feels that she needs some male company and having had a crush on Gabriel when she was younger thinks that she is the man to help her have orgasms. It is the night she propositions him that her world changes again with her sons accident.

Gabriel helps how he can, doing things in the background and being the hero that rescues Mollys son, but has not let his demons rest.

It is the determination of Molly to see things through with Gabriel that has them talking and eventually him showing her the extent of his injuries and them sorting themselves for a happiness that they both deserve.

When Molly Dekker's son is seriously injured, she allows her dear friend to set up a bachelor auction to help her pay for his medical treatment. While she's deeply grateful to everyone for contributing, she doesn't have the money or desire to buy a bachelor for herself. Lucky for Molly, her good friend isn't going to let her go home empty handed. Not only does she receive the proceeds from the auction, she is gifted a date with the hunk who saved her son's life, Gabriel Morales.

Gabriel is a former military rescuer whose career is ended by a helicopter crash. He's still healing from the ordeal physically and mentally when he's placed on the auction block. Yet he can't deny the pull of attraction between himself and Molly, nor can he remain aloof from her spunky son Josh. Will Molly and Gabriel continue to deny the attraction between them and let their potential love crash and burn, or will this new beginning be just the thing to help them take flight together?

I really enjoyed this book. The Montana Born Bachelor Auction series in general is a favorite of mine, but Kat Latham manages to bring a lot of heart to her addition to the series. Molly as a heroine is all the things I look for in a great female lead--smart, caring, resourceful, and determined to approach love on her own terms. Gabriel is a great hero--kind and thoughtful, yet with his own secret pain and shortcomings. Josh was a cute addition to the story, and Molly's best friend was a great supporting character desperately in need of her own happily ever after.

Often in a series like this, with multiple authors who have to utilize characters another author has written and brought to life, the characters outside of the main couple can feel flat and one dimensional. It's difficult to do a lot to advance the secondary characters and hit all the necessary secondary plot points to keep the series as a whole moving. But Latham effortlessly weaves in the elements of the series. The reader doesn't notice all the moving parts and pays no attention to the woman behind the curtain. It's possible to read this book as a standalone or out of order and still enjoy it on its own merit.

I would recommend One Night with Her Bachelor to anyone looking for a romance with strong internal conflict, spunky and fun secondary characters, and a couple you want to root for even as they each deal with difficult circumstances.

Rather inconsistent (character- and their behavior-wise), and definitely nothing to write home about.
It had potential, but the author failed to bring it to fruition.
