Still working on cleaning out my TBR list.
It is always interesting to start in the middle of a series. But Brad Meltzer provides enough background that you do not have to start at the beginning to enjoy the book. Beecher White has been tasked by his mentor to reinvigorate the Culper Ring, a secret society started by George Washington to protect the Presidency. So when an arm is found in a White House Garden, Beecher is drawn into the investigation by his quest for finding out what happened to his father many years ago. Aided by a couple of old friends and some new ones as well, Beecher does track down the mystery and uncovers a conspiracy. But you have to be careful what you wish for because you might get it. And then what are you going to do with the painful truth?
Another enjoyable novel from Meltzer. Good action, interesting mystery and conspiracy, relatable characters. It's a well-plotted, entertaining read. If you're a fan of Meltzer's past work, I'm sure you'll enjoy this. Should also appeal to fans of James Twining, James Rollins, Matthew Reilly and other authors of that ilk.

Typical Meltzer. Accessible history and high levels of action. His heroes are relatable, someone we would all want to be friends with. Loved the pacing and intrigue.
As a thriller this was average as was the history. I like the author but did not find this to be one of his best books. It starts out with a great premise and then becomes a bit silly and unreal. I prefer to be seeped in history with some great turns in the well developed plot and for this writer I found this book in the series disappointing.
