Cute chick lit book about a recent college graduate who decides to rent herself out as a bridesmaid. New premise, same sort of story about a young 20-something trying to figure out her one and love problems.
Overall 3.5 stars, 4.0 if you are looking for the rating on the chick lit scale.
A coming-of-age novel about finding the meaning of life.
Piper, a college grad, can´t find a proper job. But she gets creative and decides to offer her body for a hire - as a bridesmaid. And she also finds her Mr Cute within all the wedding duties.
I went into reading this book hoping for a drift-me-away chick lit about the adventures in a wedding land. But in reality, this is a coming-of-age novel under the cover of a funny girl literature. And honestly, I am conflicted about the book. I feel that the authoress is trying too much - the fun is too much, the heartbreak is too much, the philosophy is too much. She is writing with a force, not effortlessly, and it is showing, so the book comes off as a bland. I also can´t connect with any of the characters, they are too clichey (a nice gay guy as a housemate?).
But...but. From time to time there is a pearl of reality and wisdom among all of the pretentious mud. From time to time I was able to reach the heart of the authoress. And these moments are what makes me say to her: write more. Uncover your heart more. Go for the real stuff.
I can´t really recommend this book. But I think I will be able to recommend the authoress in the future.
