Incredible wisdom of Trappist monk, Brother René, and his help of leading Ms Lafia on her way to surrender.
The authoress met Brother René in the dark times of her life - her and her husband’s struggle with infertility, her insomnia, the loss of her sister, the declining health of her father. There was no peace in her, just pain - and no wonder!
But through the series of letters with Brother René, God leads Colette on the way of surrendering - her will, her pain, her desires, her life - into God’s loving hands, trusting above all understanding that God loves her and has a great plan with her life.
Easy? Not. True? For me, yes.
I can relate with Ms Lafia’s experience, as I also met wise old priest who has helped me tremendously on my spiritual way. What a gift, to experience wisdom and God’s love through such His servants!
Brother René’s letters are incredible. Just a few words, but totally on the spot. His wisdom has comforted and encouraged me, too, even if I am on different station in life that Ms Lafia was at these times. But we are all on a way to God in this world, right?
Ms Lafia is also honest in sharing her own suffering. Her writing is poetic and emotional.
I gained a lot from this book. And I will sure read it more times, to apply the wisdom into my life and its changes.
On a critical note, being Catholic, I wish for more Catholic practices/rites in this book (as it is having the Catholic background and is published by the Catholic publishing house).
The book is full of spiritual wisdom, which might be good for the general public, but I deeply miss the richness of Catholic sacraments to be mentioned here, namely Eucharist and Penance.
