I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!
I received this book free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
When I first requested this book it thought it was so interesting to tie in sick children with a Peter Pan retelling, unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations. I liked the first little bit, but as soon as the magic realism happened it wasn’t into it (don’t care for that genre for whatever reason).
I don’t feel like the background of Jack or Meyer were explained enough for my liking. I want to know how they got where they were and who made them in charge type of thing. Who was deciding all of that?
Also I want to know what happened to Jilly at the end. It’s somewhat open ended since we also don’t know what happened with Meyer or what will happen with him.
But overall I wasn’t a fan.
This was fantastic and went beyond all my expectations. I adored everything about it and I hope to see lots more from this author soon!
With Neverland as the title, it is not a surprise this is a Peter Pan retelling. Livy lost her younger sister a couple of months ago and is struggling to give it a place. When she starts to meet several mysterious people, will she find peace?
I really don't know with this book. It was an easy and quick read, but I never felt invested in the story. While Livy does incredible good things for the children at the hospital, she never came to life and basically remained as much of a fantasy as Neverland. Because of that, I could put down the book easily, and had I not been reading it now for a challenge, it might have taken me awhile.
I quite liked the idea though, and parts were very interesting, but they didn't make up the bigger part of the book. The jury's still out on this one.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
