This story was just the right amount opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, and angsty drama. The writing came off as juvenile at times, but I still enjoyed it
This sweet feel good story is heartwarmingly comfortable and a romantic page turner! I loved reading and following along the characters sweet love story! I loved this book!
cute story and a quick read - flew through this one and it's just a good one as an inbetween read
Absolutely adorable read! I loved the chemistry between these two and can't wait for more in this "series"
ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE - Laura Drewry
GREAT CHARACTERS - 4 stars
Plot - 4 stars - Ellie has a lead-foot, so she has run up against Constable Brett Hale many times, eventually losing her license. Ellie doesn't have a good track record with cops since she had a serious issue with a former boyfriend a few years ago, causing her to be arrested and charged even though she wasn't involved in his drug business. To compound the problem even more, he stalked her for a while, even having a hit-and-run accident, but the cops dismissed all her fears. So she's not receptive to Brett's friendship even though they both share the same group of friends. However, when her ex starts stalking her again, Brett becomes intimately involved in her case and in her life, eventually causing them both to realize how much they are attracted to each other.
Writing - 4 stars - I was caught up in the story right from the first page. Drewry creates a warm and natural setting peopled with warm and natural characters. It's like walking into a nice comfortable living room and sitting down to spend time with friends. There's something about her characters that really strikes a chord with me. They have a sense of fun and camaraderie that is a pleasure to share.
Characters - 4.5 stars - These are great characters! Ellie is smart and sarcastic and funny, honest to a fault which turns off some people but made me totally like and admire her. Brett is the ultimate cop doing his duty, but he has a sad secret in his past which has caused him to be pretty isolated and unsmiling. Their attraction grows slowly and gradually until suddenly they are wildly passionate about each other. But the case keeps them apart. There's a lot of push and pull that really builds the sexual tension, and Drewry knows how to keep the tension high without making it frustrating for the reader.
Title - 4 stars - The title is cute, being referred to in the text a couple of times when Ellie refers to their relationship as a happy accident as a result of her driving record.
Cover - 3.5 stars - Fairly typical romance genre cover, but attractive. I didn't love it, but it set the tone.
Overview - 4 stars - Very fun. This book covered all the bases. There were some moments of a police procedural as we followed the case against Ellie's stalker. And there are warm friendship parts where we revisit friends from previous books in this series. And the romantic scenes are hot! The characters are the best part of this story. Ellie and Brett's relationship is contentious and full of sparks, but as they gradually get to know each other better, they start to realize that they could really enjoy the sparks in a romantic way rather than when fighting. This is my favorite of the series so far (and that's really saying something because the other books have been great too). Drewry really knows how to build some well-rounded and warm feel-good characters.
