Carolyn Rivington has grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth, wanting for nothing. As a dutiful daughter, she broke things off with the boy who worked at their country club, the townie.
Fast-forward fifteen years, and Carolyn is virtually broke with her family deep in debt, and selling heirlooms to keep her head above water. Carolyn has taken a job at her childhood country club as the event planner, and she's great at it. Imagine her surprise when the new owner of the country club is revealed to be the boy from her past, Jake.
Jake Gaffney last saw Carolyn Rivington fifteen years ago as he was handcuffed in the back of a police car, after her parents caught them together. Still harboring the hate and hurt he felt all those years ago, he is struggling with being seen as his old self, and not the successful real estate investor/developer. Jake has intentions to renovate the country club to bring in new business, but he'll need Carolyn's help to get there.
4 out of 5 stars.
I love second chance love stories. Carolyn and Jake were two characters who managed to burrow their way into my heart. At times, my heart broke for them.
