This one starts off with Lily, a waitress who is trying to get back on her feet meeting mysterious and reserved Kincaid, a new regular who visits the diner. That quickly turns into a steamy fling with no holds barred.
I don't think I've read any ex-con books before, but I really liked that portion of this story! It's easy to see Kincaid is a good guy who just made a bad choice, but all explained in due time. I also enjoyed the characters both having aspirations and explaining their hopes for the future.
I'm not normally a fan of third person POV but this one was done quite well. It was easy to read, flowed nicely, and still did a great job with imagery. This author knows what she's doing.
Now, this is an erotica book so hope you're ready for some heat. It had enough plot and development mixed in to not lean too far one way or the other, but let's just say there's no questioning the sub genre. It may not have been exactly my cup of tea but I understand the appeal.
Over all this was an easy read with more depth than I expected. It wasn't groundbreaking by any means but really, who reads erotica expecting it is? 😜
This book was a quick enough read; I was able to get through it in one sitting. Overall, though, it was pretty forgettable. There were no surprises, nothing new, and frankly, nothing exciting. I probably won't be able to remember the book in a week.
The repeated references to 50SOG as the prime example of BDSM didn't help, either. That book and its representation of that community is problematic, to put it mildly.
I enjoyed this story and felt the authors writing really brought you into the fold early on where you could start to care for the characters right away. The writing was solid and the love scenes were very tastefully done. Just the right amount of heat and lust. I like that the author doesn't give everything about this story away but takes you on a nice slow journey while you watch the hero and heroine fall into one another more and more.
