**My thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
Jess has been going to Whisper Creek for two years and is back again for the wedding of her friend and the second wedding at Whisper Creek for her friend group of three. She and one of the owners Cole have both fancied each other but done nothing with the attraction.
Jess has a secret that she has told no-one, not even her best friend, but when a letter arrives from her past, not only does this spook her, she is very much reminded of a past she has tried so hard to put behind her.
Cole is good at reading horses, children and adults. When he sees Jess back at Whisper Creek, he knows that she is different, afraid of something. He knows that he needs to tread carefully with her.
Both find themselves getting closer to each other, but it is not before another blast from her past spooks her even further that everything changes for Jess. Not only does her past blast wide open, but Not only does her friendship with her two friends get closer, but Cole really finds out that Jess is the woman for him.
This is more of a slow burn, but well worth the read.
If you life romance this is the book for you. I'm not a huge romance fan but enjoyed this one! Easy to follow, no drop offs or leave you wandering.
I have never cried so much in an array of emotions. This book and it’s characters had me from the start, and I felt every emotion. I always love a cowboy romance, but a healing and heartwarming one makes it that much better. Add a bunch of humor that had me laughing out loud and I call this book a winner! Book provided by NetGalley.
Thank you for the opportunity to read Once Upon a Cowboy. Unfortunately, I did not download the book before it was archived in July 2015. I do not plan to finish the book.
I was unable to review books for quite a while and was unable to review these. I apologize for this and have only gotten back into reviewing again. I did enjoy the book though when I read it.
Not a typical cowboy story.
Yoga instructor Jessalyn from Boston is heading to Whisper Creek for a wedding and spending her summer. When she gets a letter of inheritance from his beloved grandfather right before she was leaving to Montana, she gets a letter that shakes her to the core.
When she arrives at the Whisper Creek, she feels calm and serene by the surrounds that she feels she can keep all her secrets buried as long she can.
She has been coming to Whisper Creek and been good friend with Cole Driscoll, the one of the owner of the ranch and handsome one as well. When he offers her a cottage for the summer and in exchange for some work at the ranch, she jumps at the chance and takes it. And their relationship blossoms and it is becoming more than just friends yet Jess can't really open up about herself to Cole yet.
Jess and Cole are getting closer and they want to take a next step.... Cole feels he wants something else other than Ranch life.. He was in limbo as well.. He is not sure if he wants to settle down at the ranch and live a life in the ranch for the rest of his life.
Jess has deep dark secret she can't reveal to anyone since is running away from it all. When aunt's letter comes to Whisper Creek Ranch, everything seems to change. She has never told her story to her best friends. She couldn't reveal she is not Jess because she is from wrong side of the town and she has been physically, verbally abused by her mother, aunt, and her ex-boyfriend. She didn't want them to see her differently from others.
She became Jess when her grandfather help her to escape the hell she was living. She wanted to start a new life with new name. So she decided to hide all her ugly stories from her friends.
When she received a letter from her aunt and her friend opens up the letter, she needed to share all her dark secrets with her friends.. What will happen when Cole finds out about her secrets?
Now Jess has to face her own past and move on with her life.. But without Cole?
There are so many stories woven in to this one.. This was emotional roller coaster. It had everything from suspense, romance, family and heartbreak. I didn't read the first two but I definitely will be reading the next one. It was great to see the HEA for Cole and Jess.
