A classic satirical campus novel. First published in 1975, "The History Man" is an amusing send-up of certain hypocritical aspects of academia and ideological.
If you're a fan of other campus novels -- for example, Richard Russo's "Straight Man", Jane Smiley's "Moo" and others of that ilk -- then I'd recommend giving this a try. While I prefer the others I mention, this one is also very good and worth a look.
