It truly started out pretty good. I liked both H & h. Just about 45% in, is where I began to loathe the h. I almost put the book away as a DNF. The reason I didn't like the h (Sarra) any longer is because I felt her reasons for not trusting the H (Giric) were weak for at this point in the story, Giric had already proved himself time and again.
As the story progressed, I did feel Sarra beginning to redeemed herself a bit but not enough for me to completely have any sympathy for her. I did however fall in love with Giric, but couldn't understand why he was in love with Sarra (especially after her vicious words and actions towards him).
Most disappointing of all was the severe and abrupt ending.
Giric is is hired to go and fetch the bride of a Scottish lord in order to be able to save his own lands. Secretly he is a titled lord, but in order to protect himself and others he travels incognito. What he expected to be a simple piece of work turns out to be might more difficult as Lady Sarra is not what he imagined her to be. Abrasive and strong, she has a very set idea of what had how things should be done and she will not move to his desires. But when the trip to her future husband becomes treacherous, they'll both learn to see through each other's armor to the kind people they are beneath.
This novel had a couple trips I didn't see coming. I had quite a few expectations coming into the novel, but as it progressed I realized that I had really misjudged it. I really like Giric and though Sarra started out irritating me, she grew on me throughout the novel. Brilliantly plotted and a fun piece of travel adventure. Perfect to read when traveling.
