Annie thought how South Carolina’s humidity was going to take more getting used to. All Annie wanted to do was get to her room. Annie was dragging her two suitcases to the first floor of the coed dorm bumped into the door and someone named Chris. Chris offered to help Annie get her suitcases to her room. Then he learned Annie was on the third floor just like he was and then he put her suitcase in line formed by the elevator. Annie was the athletic jeans and tee shirt kind of girl that guys were buddies with, not the kind they asked out. The whole flirting thing was new to Annie. Anne’s roommate was Cami and Cami let Annie know she planned on having an awesome time in college and was taking Annie with her. Starting with them going out in a couple of hours. Going out put Annie’s stomach in knots. But she was determined to go. Cami’s cousin was taking them. Annie had chosen a school far from home to experience life and that was what she was going to do. Annie’s mom had died when she was a baby and her clothes were geared more for comfort. She really had no pretty or sexy, girly clothes. A drunk man had stopped Annie and she was trying to extract herself from her and Ryan shows up puts his arm around her and draws her away form the drunk man. When she sat down Ryan was on one side if her and Chris on the other. Chris and Ryan were best friends. Buys had never paid attention to Annie before with four older brothers and an overprotective father. Cami and Annie made a list of twenty things Annie wanted to do or have done before she turned nineteen a year from September. Next day Annie had had her ears and nose pierced and got a new wardrobe with Cami to guide her. She finally answered her cell and told Adam - the brother she was closest to- that he knew how it was and what she went through. Adam agreed to call her dad and other brothers but she had to call her dad tonight and she agreed. Ryan came up to her and said his mother had died also. She tingled being next to him. Ryan had a pull over her over her more intensely than she’d ever felt anything in her entire life. Annie dated Chris as a distraction and Ryan dated a girl-Jess- from some of Annie’s classes who was a really nice person. Annie couldn’t hate Jess but she was jealous.
I loved this book. I was so glad when Annie and Ryan found their HEA. I was glad Annie got away from her father and was having a life of her own even when she made mistakes. I also loved how Annie still loved her dad and didn’t cut him out of her life. I loved Annie and Cami’s relationship and how close they were. I felt bad for Chris and that he got hurt but Annie had her share of heart and heartbreak. I could find nothing to criticize in this book happily. I didn’t want to put this book down. This book had my attention from the first page until the last. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.
