The strongest part of this novel is the no-holds-barred take at the sad times of the Argentinian Dirty War, where thousands of people felt victims to the state-led and covered torture. Be prepared to get informed about the dark, heart-wrenching reality there.
But as a novel, this one is not good. The jumps between the timelines are uneven, the meaning of Julia's gift is unclear and sometimes ill-used and truly, I lost my interest in all things Julia's marriage quickly.
But I am glad that this book is witnessing about such an unprecedented brutality, which needs to be remembered.
