A good book to say the least! Very intriguing and will keep you from start to finish! This one delivered what I expect in reading!
This is a character study--the premise makes it sound like it's more of a thriller, but it's really about the effects that grief, poor choices, and what happens in our lives all comes together to mold us into who we are and become. This isn't a light book and isn't an easy read, especially if you've ever lost a child. But it's well written and definitely worth taking the time to read.
Impact. Any parent will recognize the fear and anguish expressed in this story. A child is dead, another child is behind bars, imprisoned after being found guilty of murder. As the parents of the killer struggle to stay together the parents of the dead child have separated. But there is so much more to the story than this. Most mothers are fierce when it comes to their children. Covering for them is not unusual. To lie by omission is a fair play for a mother protecting her child. But, per the old saying, sooner or later someone must pay the piper. Just how that plays out is told in this story. An emotional rollercoaster fraught with finger pointing, accusations, implications and the struggle to get on with one’s life and along the way love lost and new love found. As a parent this was a thought provoking story, and depending upon your station life cause to thank your blessings or pause to curse your fate.
