John Sinclair and Cordelia Stapleton are invited to have dinner with Charles Bonnard at his villa in Capri. When they arrive, they meet his other dinner guest, Princess Victoria of Norway. Contessa Brindey helped Victoria sneak out of the hotel to be with Charles. She also arranges with the assassin, the Cyclops, to steal Victoria’s sapphire necklace. Before the man can get the necklace, Victoria’s little brother, Karl, takes it and sells it so he and Lucas, Brindey’s son can go on an adventure. Sinclair is believed to be Victoria’s lover and when the necklace is believed to be stolen, he is the obvious suspect.
The book has a fast pace, the characters developed, and it is written in the third person point of view. The story crosses Europe and the United Kingdom all while earthquakes are erupting. As the earthquakes build pressure, the adventure continues with global chases. If you like mysteries and intrigue, you may enjoy this book.

I was first sent this book via netgalley but life turned to custard and I never managed to get it finished.
Although this is the third book in her mystery suspense series, I soon got Into the book and the characters.
It's easy to read as a stand alone storyline.
This the first time I had seen any books by the author but I like the blend of fact and fiction,
This book is set around volcanos, the history of the volcanic region of Southern Italy, and is set when Iceland's Eyjafjallajökul erupted (which I remember) it's a great blend of intrigue, suspense and blends in the historical facts about the places and the facts of volcanology.
There's a lot of people in the book who's lives intermingle and end up merging together for the conclusion. It's a great read for a summer vacation (I'm currently away with a view that brings this books Capri location to mind) I've thoroughly enjoyed the book. And I'm going to search out for books 1 and 2.

Bristling with twists and turns, and multiple threads, this story will have you turning pages. It is atmospheric of Capri, Italy and I felt transported there.
Many thanks to Greenleaf Book group and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved this journey! Set against a backdrop of geology, mystery, forbidden love, and the mafia, this novel will entertain and inform.

I can't believe that I have not found Kitty Pilgrim before now. Such a great author that writes so vividly. When you are reading this story you feel like you are in the midst of the places Kitty take you to. From the ancient island of Capri, to the ancient city of Herculaneum, to the top of the active Mt. Etna that is on the verge of eruption, to Paris, and London. You get lost in the mystery, thrill, romance, drama, and danger that is all part of this lovely story.
This is a great read that I highly recommend. I will be looking for more books from this author as well! Thanks for a great read Kitty Pilgrim!

A wonderful romance set in exotic locations with added drama and adventure. Fast moving and easy to read. Highly recommended.

This book began with Cordelia Stapleton and John Sinclair getting ready for dinner with Charles Bonnard and his new girlfriend who they were to meet for the first time tonight. When they arrived for dinner, they found that the girlfriend was Victoria, Princess of Norway. That was a real shock as Charles is much older than “V” as she is well known as. Plus, his parentage is not as pure as everyone believes. Also, how did Victoria get away from her body guards to spend free time alone with Charles?
Then the story jumps to a volcano in Iceland that is erupting. This causes air travel to be shut down but doesn’t stop Jude Blackwell, photographer extraordinaire, from getting some close-up shots.
Then the story jumps to Norway and Victoria finds out her younger brother and his friend are missing. Now add the King and Queen of Norway and the number of characters to keep straight is becoming almost impossible. There are more characters with Charles’ sister and mother and a ex-girlfriend of John Sinclair.
I was having a hard time keeping the who’s who straight and it became more of a chore to read than a pleasure.
If you like a book with lots of different stories to keep straight rather than a book that focuses on one plot, then this book will be something you will enjoy. For me, not so much.
