God is the hero of the broken story.
This is partly a life story, partly a study about the brokenness and the way to find a joy even if the circumstances will not change.
When Laura Story Elvington's husband, Martin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, it seemed bad - but this was just a start, and their lives would never be the same. There is no cure existed to restore Martin's short-term memory, eyesight, and other complications. Their dreams are crushed, which is an issue you can live with, if it is onetime event and the other things are fine - but their reality might never change, which is much harder to take and to live their life with. There are thousands of practical obstacles! There is a deep, urgent need to have a servant attitude and to love a person as he/she is at precisely THAT moment of both of your lives.
Laura is here to tell her story and to show you the wisdom she has got the hard way - of a better brokenness, the brokenness lived in the presence of God and the joy which looks impossible.
Sweet words, yes, it might seem like that - and it might be unbearable. As everybody is broken in their unique way, this might not be what you are looking for here. But you might try to give this one a go. It is not an easy read (honestly, it might be a bit heavier on the preachy side - but I take this as an honest mistake, as the authoress is very earnest about the topic), but it might be an useful read. It certainly was an useful read for me.
