A fascinating comparison of four films made from virtually the same story, the author has placed each film under a microscope and examined every element in each scene. Actor and actress performances, director's shots, and scenario analyses are aptly explored in great detail. You may have seen these movies before, but you probably did not realize how the creative processes evolved over the years. Everything old is always new again in Hollywood, and James Stratton has created a memorable book for Garland, Streisand, Gaynor, and Bennett fans.
