DNF. The writing came off as childish, which--well, I don't even want to get into because it makes me a bit angry. The chapters were short and they ended with absolutely nothing that kept my interest. There was nothing remotely scary about the book, and I feel more than a bit cheated.
I got most of the way through this book and realized I simply didn't care anymore. It wants t o be horror but isn't overly frightening. Partly, its hard to connect with the setting. And I found it hard to believe the general lack of curiosity of an entire population. They never question their town, the weird directions they have to follow, none of it.The plot is both hard to swallow and easy to predict. And the more we see of the monsters the less frightening they become.
