It took a bit to latch onto this one but once you do it's worth it. The plot and characters are something else and make this read interesting.
An authour I had not heard of before and I have to say I'm not overly keen set on books set in the US - can't quite explain why. But this was a nice light read.
Maybe I am slower than the average reader these days, but this had some great twists in the plot...just enough to keep me turning those pages. I called to mind that movie Memento with Guy Pearce, but also the Sandra Bullock film, Premonition. Unreliable narrators are fun and frustrating. This one is worth the read.
I struggled to get into this book, I found it a little difficult to care about the characters. It was overall an ok read.
A great read that kept me guessing and glued to my seat...a thriller in the best sense of the word. One of those read s that keep you on the edge of your seat. A thrill for sure!
I apologize for not writing the review after getting the book. It was posted on my blog.
Crooked Little Lies resonated with me after experiencing a concussion in a car accident. I definitely understood Lauren's struggle with getting back to normal and knowing when she could trust her thinking.
Lauren's meeting of Bo is unusual but plausible and introduces an interesting relationship for the book. The book kept me interested to see how each character's story would unfold, and was a generally easy read, although there was some repetitive phrasing that was a little distracting. I liked the respective views of how a single action affected others, and in how it was portrayed. I would consider this more drama than suspense, but it was an interesting and enjoyable read.
I also received a copy of this novel through BookSparks. A new to me author, although I enjoyed reading the book, it took me a while to get into before I got to a "Can't put it down" stage.
Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Crooked Little Lies. This is my honest opinion of the book.
Lauren Wilder was concerned when she almost hit a young man out walking on the edge of the roadway. When she sees him get into a stranger's car, Lauren calls the sheriff's office with her feelings about the situation. When Bo Laughlin later goes missing, Lauren's sighting suddenly takes on a bigger meaning.
An accident two years earlier while on a salvage job with her husband has left Lauren with residual pain, which she used to manage with the help of prescription medication. Because her brain injury has left Lauren with bouts of fatigue, hallucinations, and paranoia, she starts to become more and more confused as to the strange happenings in her daily life. Can helping Annie, Bo's sister, find out what happened to her brother give Lauren the push she needs to get her own life back on track?
Crooked Little Lies has good flow and well developed characters. Lauren is my favorite in the book, as her struggles to get back to normalcy are clearly felt. The mystery and suspense builds throughout the pages until all is finally revealed at the conclusion. Although I had my suspicions, I was not certain as to the extent of the deception until the final reveal. I liked Crooked Little Lies, despite the fact that some of the story was a bit too drawn out and overdone. I would recommend the book to other readers, especially those who like mysteries with a psychological thriller component.
