I'll confess, I wasn't a big fan of P&P when I first read the original text - I found it a tad tedious and slow for my liking. But my opinion would have been completely different had I read it in this Manga format! The artwork is so so good, and I think the creators have done a great job bringing out the essence of the story in this. Bravo!

Review copy provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I still haven't read the original Pride and Prejudice, though I plan to! I was hoping to get an idea of the story with this because I find it hard to get interested in classics. However, as a manga this was easier to follow and I even enjoyed the story. The artwork was gorgeous also! I am so excited to read more manga classics!

Really, what else can I say other than manga is a perfect form for Jane Austen novels? Like the other manga classics, this follows the original story pretty much perfectly. The art is lovely, it's one of my favorite stories, it's pretty much exactly what I expected and what I wanted.

I can't gush enough about these manga classics! The artist's work was beautiful and I loved their expressions! The idea of Turing classic books into manga is genius and I find myself actually wanting to read the original book. I don't often find myself rooting for couples but I ship Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.
I highly recommend for anyone ages 10 & up
5 stars!

A pity. I wasn't able to download it, so I can't give an honest opinion of this item. The drawings looks great.

Great addition for any YA collection, as this would be a great way to introduce teens to Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice is a classic, and anyone who is both an Austen fan and a manga fan will enjoy this.

I received a copy of Manga Classics: Pride & Prejudice from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I have to admit that I absolutely love the idea of making manga versions of all the classics! It’s so simple yet brilliant! I’m not so secretly hoping to see a Secret Garden one come out next. That would make me the happiest girl in the world!
I think the best part about doing a manga classics series is that it’s fantastic for both fans and for those that have never read the books. They’re condensed (because obviously there’s no way to include entire sets of details or conversations as they were originally written) which is perfect for anybody that’s been a little intimidated by a book previously. The way I see it, isn’t it better for something like this to be read than for it to be skipped entirely? Plus fans will enjoy the new twist and seeing the stories portrayed in this art style. I know I did!
I decided to start my read through of the manga classics with Pride & Prejudice, being that it’s probably one of my favorite books of all time. I literally read it once a year every year. So reading it first just felt like a natural starting point for me.
I thought the portrayal of the Bennet sisters as manga characters was actually pretty perfect. Many of the characters lend well to this art style. Jane was stunning, as expected. Elizabeth pretty and bright. Kitty and Linda silly and younger. Darcy as striking but regal. They were all perfect. Though I’ll admit Mr. Collins character probably had me laughing the most. While all the other characters got more serious/artistic designs, Mr. Collins was relegated to near Chibi status. How appropriate!
Having read Pride & Prejudice so many times, it’s easy to spot where a conversation has been condensed, or when details are shown rather than told (a nice touch, by the way). I actually am ok with, and even liked, most of the changes made. Never was anything vital cut out, with the focus where it needed to be. Additionally nothing extra was thrown in. Stacy King clearly did her research and did her best to stay true to the original.
Seeing my favorite parts of Pride & Prejudice in drawing form was really quite wonderful. It brought a whole new element to the mix, one I greatly enjoyed. I can’t wait to read the rest of the manga classics!

First, I’d like to say that Pride and Prejudice is one of my (probably my only) favourite classics. So when I saw this manga, I didn’t hesitate to pick it up.
The adaptation of Pride and Prejudice in this novel was a different take on the classic. Focusing on certain parts of the story, it really captured the humour and style of the of the era through its scenes. Mrs. Bennet’s desire to marry off all her daughters and Lydia’s fancy for the soldiers were very prominent throughout the book. As said, many of the elements in the story had strongly emphasized. Nonetheless, I found the new perspective really fun to read.
The portrayal of some of the characters was quite comical **cough Mr Collins** and it made the plot all the more interesting. My only issue was that I found Mr Darcy a little more romantic than he should have been. Not that I really minded.
While at first, I was reluctant to read Pride and Prejudice in any other way than the original, I found the adaptation more refreshing as I read on.
I’m really glad I took the chance to read this adaptation, as I go to see the story in a different style and light. It got me hyped to read Pride and Prejudice, again!

This book tells the story of Pride and Prejudice in manga form.

The art itself is beautiful- it’s ellaborate in a wonderful way.

The characters are interesting and lovable, especially Elizabeth.

I have never read Pride and Prejudice, I’ve always thought it would be a cheezy love story but I was surprised. The story has little to do with romance and it’s surprisingly delightful.

Manga is such a fun way to revisit these classic stories. Also the graphics are gorgeous!

Beautifully done, so good to see the classics given a different "polish", so to speak. This would also appeal to the younger generation who are into manga.

I loved this adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. As a hard core Jane Austen fan, I'm hard to please when it comes to adaptations, but this version managed to keep the essence of the story, while also conforming to the format and style of manga. This is one of the best graphic adaptations I've ever read of any of Austen's works. I would recommend this book to Janeites as well as manga fans who are looking for an introduction to Jane Austen's work.

This was a fun read, although definitely both simplified certain parts of the plot (and also dramatised it in a hilariously cringe worthy way at times!) It was nice to read this as a whole from start to finish in such a short period time, after having read Pride and Prejudice for so long. It was a fun, easy way to follow and understand the basis of the story. It was also my first ever manga, which was such a fun experience and definitely something I'll have to look into reading more of!

Another great adaption of a classic! I wasn't very fond of the art for this one, but the script was adapted very well. This is a must read for Jane Austen fans.

The first thing that struck me was how funny this version is - at first my reaction was 'This is a classic! It's not meant to be FUNNY!'... then I realised that it really was. This story has always been tongue in cheek, but this time it was with hilarious manga illustrations of Mrs Bennett's temper tantrums. As in, I was giggling like a lunatic levels of hilarious.

Of the three, this book had the most liberties taken with the storyline but it still worked, it cut out some of the subtleties about Mr Wickham's rakishness and made Lizzie more of a ball busting heroine.

By simplifying and abridging the dialogue in this story, I think it makes it far more accessible for readers who don't want to get too into it.

My final thought? Is there an anime version yet?! I'm dying to see it in animation.

I recieved a review copy from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I have already read a few books in the Manga Classics series. I really enjoy them. They are a great way to introduce younger readers to the classics in a way they will enjoy and hopefully inspire them to go on and read the original. I find it fun to see a Story I know told in a new format.

Pride and Prejudice has a storyline that translates well to manga. Plus, Mr. Darcy really is the original Tsundere character!

I found the art in this one a bit uneven, though.. Some pages look nice and others just serviceable. I like the art in some of the other Manga Classics much

I like manga and I love the movie and the serie from Pride and Prejudice, but I didn't like the book. But this manga is amazing. It read fast and it was really nice. The artist and the writer both did an amazing job by giving this story yet another lovely adaption.
