Interesting start to what feels like a really good book. I am very inclined to pick and read the rest of the book because I really need to know how it will end.
When I first read this book, I couldn't put it down! It's the perfect balance of soap-opera, intense plot-driven narrative and tension that kept me going. I especially adored the ending; it's the perfect ending and the perfect summer read!
I thought this preview was just okay. It didn't seem like much happened. Then again, I can see how it was setting up for something exciting to happen soon. I'm planning on reading the rest of this book eventually, but it's not on the top of my tbr.
Political espionage. Murder. Adrift at sea. Plastic surgery. Impersonation. Revenge. Orphans. Love. These are the underpinnings of Daughter of Deep Silence. Some will criticize this story for its implausible plot, but fiction has the license to do that. Two things must happen for the success of the implausible plot. First, the author must somehow make the outlandish believable. Herein lies the problem. Second, the reader must suspend belief and go along for the ride; I usually have no problem with that. I enjoy the escapism, but I just couldn't but into this story. Still, it's a fast paces story that will keep readers guessing and turning the pages.
I really enjoyed the sneak peek, and even bought the book for myself.
Carrie Ryan is a YA Fiction genius. I was so excited to read this sneak peek after thoroughly enjoying her "Forest of Hands and Teeth" trilogy.
While this was a relatively short tidbit from her new novel, it shows the promise of a thrilling and adventurous journey. I cannot wait to pick this up at the bookstore!
