Shades of Blue is Dana Tanaro Britt's debut novel but I can assure you, you will forget all about that when you start reading this one. I am so excited about this series and can't wait to see what is going to happen with these characters later in the series.

Charlie is a grieving widow that has gone away to an island to try and find herself again. Having amnesia at some times to avoid the loss and pain of loosing her husband, Charlie also forgets about her children at times too. I felt for her kids and what all they had to go through as well. Charlie soon meets Gabe, once a firefighter, he is now living his dream out on the island of being a fisherman. Gabe has all the qualities you look for in a man, but Gabe does not advance on Charlie as in a relationship, but as a friend.

Gabe knows all the right things to say to Charlie to make her feel better and to help her deal with the loss that she has endured. I thought that this was going to be a read where they fall in love, but I am so glad that Gabe just helped Charlie instead. This was a great read about overcoming grief and I think that it would help others dealing with it as well. There are so many emotions in this story that will have your eyes "leaking". I can't wait to see what is in store for us as readers in the next installments of the Island Sanctuary Series.Great debut novel Dana Tanaro Britt!
