I love this author, but unfortunately this series wasn't for me. It felt like it was trying really hard to be the things she has already written and I was hoping for something new.
The characters were pretty generic to the YA genre and the plot felt very recycled from her Tiger's series.
The setting, however was gorgeous. Colleen is great at transporting us to new places with her writing.
I won't give up on Houck's books because I know she's capable of telling great stories.

Very similar to the Mummy movie, with action and adventure and a ton of romance thrown in. Mix that with Egyptian mythology and I'm sure this will find the right audience.

Oh, I so wanted to like this but I just could not like the main character. She was so IRRITATING and the romance made me roll my eyes.
