This is a beautifully written magical realism story. The comparison of "Romeo and Juliet" meets the "The Night Circus" really works. I can definitely see glimmers and themes of both books used in this story, but The Weight of Feathers also manages to be its own novel.

Pacing is very slow. The plot drifts in and out of magical realism, so one never knows what might happen next or what to beleive. Very atmospheric, though. McLemore has a real way with scenery and physical description.
