Realistic story line that draws in the reader. Would recommend for young adult readers looking for books on survival in place of dystopian novels.
An interesting concept with unique perspective, but the plot becomes muddled as too many voices and too many themes are weaved in.
I liked the relationship between Nicole and Izzy a whole lot, but i disliked the setting and would building.
The writing was beautiful and did the story justice for sure!
Nicole’s father, a survivalist moves the family to a remote decrepit house on the border of a hippie commune. When her mother takes off, he leaves Nicole and her younger sister Izzy to fend for themselves. The girls soon find the situation to be more than they can handle, and they befriend some neighboring teens from the commune.
Wolf, a boy from the commune who likes building treehouses and has his own parental drama, soon starts to break down Nicole’s walls. In the reality of her world falling apart, Nicole will have to learn to live and enjoy it.
