There just isn’t enough time in a day, month or year to read all the great books out there.
Dirt Daughter is definitely one of those great reads. To imagine having to keep a secret of seeing your best friend die as a young girl would be devastating. To take that and bury it within only to add to it your parents suicide is just heartbreaking.
There are so many heartbreaking things going on in this story but the strength of a few
Of the characters is what keeps you reading.
Dirt Daughter, by Michele Shaw, is a young adult mystery telling the tale of Elena Black, who has kept secret the truth about her childhood friend's murder for the last eight years. She is now getting ready to go to college and with college scholarships looming, doesn't want that secret to get out now. You see, eight years ago, Elena and her friend Lizzy went into the woods, but only Elena made it out alive. Lizzy's body was never found, and Elena claims that Lizzy was taken by a man who jumped out from behind a rock. When a new detective is appointed to Lizzy's case, Elena is having a hard time keeping her lies from the past straight. What really happened in the woods eight years ago? A solid 3 star book - slightly predictable, but not 100%. For sure on the young side of the young adult genre, but enjoyable nonetheless!
Not a bad read. Loved the relationships Elena has with Cal, Angie and Clayton. Was intrigued to know what happened all those years ago.
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!
