Fairytale in the title and this one was a fairytale to read. A magical story which I loved. Holly is a favourite author for me.
Fairytale Beginnings Holly Martin
Fairytale Beginnings is cute! I'm not a Disney fangirl like the heroine is, so I found myself rolling my eyes a little bit as I read about her fixation on all things Disney and princesses. She acted like a child for the bulk of the book, when you'd expect her to be an intelligent woman. The idea was really cute, but I just didn't care for the characters. No complaints about the writing.
Super sweet, cute chick lit that any Disney lover would adore. If you like a great romance with a castle theme, this one is just adorable. Nothing over the top memorable, but a great story overall.
Perfectly sweet and tender happy ever after modern fairytale set in a beautiful castle, with a handsome owner, hidden treasure and true love’s kiss. ALL THE BIG ROMANTIC SIGHS.
Thanks for providing a review copy. I was unable to get into the book and wont be returning to it, so no official review posted at this time.
This is a dreamy, romantic retelling of Beauty and the Beast - simply gorgeous! Holly Martin is well established as the queen of romantic comedies now and a modern take on my favourite Disney movie was always going to be a winner. A heroine you can root for, a brooding romantic lead and a stunning setting all come together to firmly cement Holly as a huge talent in the romantic comedy sphere.
Fairytale Beginnings by new to me author Holly Martin was a cute story about a girl who finds her happily ever after in the most unexpected way. Milly is an unusual character; very likable and easy to relate to but she initially comes across to me as immature. She’s obsessed with all things Disney, wears sparkly pink everything and appears to be in over her head with her job assignment. I found Cameron to be very likable and easy to relate to as well but didn’t think he and Milly had an instant chemistry. I honestly struggled with this book because the story seemed to meander without really going anywhere.
Happily things picked up as Milly and Cameron began spending more time together, exploring the castle and grounds and researching the history. The introduction of a ghost, meeting the odd villagers and the arrival of Cruella deVil’s little sister, Olivia reignited my interest. This book took much longer to read than I would have liked, but once it started to pick up, I was locked in with anticipation of what would happen next. Unsolved mysteries, secret passageways leading to God knows where, lost treasure and a beautiful castle that draws the reader in with a subtle magical bippity boppity boo and before I knew it, I was enjoying the story.
Readers who look for a happily ever after in the stories they read will enjoy this offering, once they get past the slow beginning.
After having read a few other Holly Martin books, I have discovered that her writing style and books are not for me unfortunately.
Funny, silly, light quick read. A little predictable. There were many things I liked about Fairytale Beginnings, especially once I got into the castle itself. It was a really fun read and one should not be afraid of the fairytale!
A very sweet 4 stars is what I give Fairytale Beginnings by Holly Martin. The book held the magic of a castle, old legends, and the promise of soulmates. This story was sweet and cute while holding several moving parts to keep it moving and a bit interesting. Milly and Cameron made me laugh with their blushing and flustered states around each other. They were both what the other needed to not only believe in love again but to also have that unimaginable connection.
My first book by this author...hopefully not my last! It starts with a meet-cute and continues as a modern day fairy tale, complete with a castle, ghosts, legends, dragons, jewels, etc. Our heroine is Disney obsessed, and our hero has a secret identity as a writer of children's books. Both of them are on a self-imposed relationship sabbatical--so we know right away they are going to fall in love!
Clover Castle is in a village full of people with quirky personalities and unusual traditions. The "three witches" were definitely among my favorite characters! And of course, there is a character who tries to come between the loving couple--and I didn't like that person from the moment they came on the scene.
Highly recommend this one to anyone who loves romantic comedies and/or fairy tales.
I really enjoyed this book I love the way the author writes her books it is a feel good book
First off-how beautiful is the cover?!
Fairytale Beginnings is a wonderful romance featuring Milly, a dendrochronologist who specializes in dating and/or restoring historic castles through her employer, Castle Heritage, and Cameron Heartstone, who has just inherited the huge, piecemeal Clover Castle. Cameron was under the impression that Milly would be a lot older and dress a lot differently-she loves bright colors, Converse, sparkles, and Disney, but is extremely intelligent and excellent at her job. Despite getting off on the wrong foot, the chemistry between the two is undeniable. Both of them have had heartbreak in the past-can they overcome their hurts and misunderstandings along the way to open their hearts to each other?
This story was just magical. The way the author describes the castle and the village, you will feel like you've been transported there. With ghosts, romance, weird traditions, and the longing for a happily ever after, fairytale lovers will thoroughly enjoy this one and will be sad for it to end!
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
