This was in interesting read, but that ending? I didn’t care for it. There was mystery and suspense though.
Many thanks to Dogear Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I think with all the boxes that I ticked for this:

- Contemporary fiction
- Crime
- Family drama
- Suspense

It really on touched on each of those, I found it dragged and because of this I was picking it up, putting it down, my mind was wandering on what I should get up and do next as opposed to me saying 'just one more chapter'.

Where was this leading. I dunno [shrugs shoulders]
Was the ending a surprise?

yes, I still don't know what I've just read [scratches head]

Thank you Dogear Publishing via Net Galley for my copy

Title: Madeleine's Kiss
Author: Peter Gilboy

4 unexpected stars

This review is difficult to write. Mostly because Madeleine's Kiss was nothing like i expected and it wasn't like any other book i've read in a very long time. Don't take the blurb for granted - as you may have noticed, there isn't much there to give you an idea of what the book is about, but in the end, it's quite simple and straight forward as a storyline. A man, Adam, is charged with Madeleine's disappearance and death, and as he waits for the verdict from the jury as to whether or not he's guilty of the crime he claims he didn't do, he tells readers what really happened.
Like many suspense and psychological novels, i typically enjoy them. I like finding out if i was right, if my theories have merit and whether or not i need to reread the story to find out where i went wrong if i was. While i was captivated by the evens and how everything unraveled, i felt as though there was something missing. I didn't get my validation at the end; but that isn't to say that i didn't like this book. I just personally was left standing at the end wondering what really happened.

This was not my kind of story. Madeleine was weirdly linked to her grandmother Rosalee through some psychic mumbo jumbo. Adam seemed like a wishy washy academic taken in by Madeleine's charms for no discernible able reason.
