I've adored so much of Fran Wilde's short fiction, but I found it really difficult getting into this, I think it was the ereader experience. Never found a way to effectively review it and give it justice it would deserve to find its audience.
This was a fantastic book with an amazing world and a strong protagonist.
The story involves a young girl, Kirit, who is trying to become a flying trader. She makes a mistake and instead draws the attention of the ruling body of the bone towers, who force her into becoming one of their own. What Kirit discovers makes her begin to question everything that she thought she knew. Who can she confide in? Is there any way to change her fate? This is the first a series, and a strong exciting beginning!
Much better than average young adult dystopian-like fantasy. I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to, and I appreciated the rather unusual setting (up in the clouds with towers made of bone). I'd like to read the second one.
