Wake-Up Call is a shallow attempt to recreate some of the plot points of 50 First Dates. Avanzino is a good writer, and I understood what she was trying to do with this novel. However, I couldn't get past the premise and how unlikable the MC was. Wake-up Call was a quick read with many references that are now outdated. We all have what-if scenarios in our heads, but this one did not play out well for me. 3 stars.

Imagine waking up and missing any recollection of the past 5 years of your life? Living the life you don't remember choosing. Sarah Winslow gets to grapple with those questions in Amy Avanzino's lovely debut Wake-up Call. What led her to become a stay at home mom to 3 boys, living in the suburbs?

I loved the premise of this book and I was hooked from the page one. Sarah was an imperfect main character but I think therein lies the book's charm. It explores some uncomfortable ideas but in an engaging way. Despite how far we've come in terms of our ability to choose, I feel oftentimes women are judged quite harshly for the choices they make or doubts they might have. Despite some of the deeper questions it poses, this book still makes a fun beach/poolside read!

Grateful to NetGalley and Henery Press for gifting me a copy in exchange for an honest review!

Very cool idea for a book, and an excellent execution of that idea. A thoroughly enjoyable read. Recommended. .

Reminded me a lot of What Alice Forgot. I love books about memory loss/amnesia, I think this one would make a great Hallmark type movie. Nice story and I will look for the sequel.
