I didn't know what to expect from Ballou, but man am I glad I jumped on this novel (pun intended)!! I am an equestrian myself, and the fact that she knew what she was writing really made this story come alive. It was not too technical for a non-horse person to understand it either. The charactesr were realistic and vivid, and I'll likely pick up the next Ballou book I see.
