The lives of three very different sisters are followed as WWII begins. Their beliefs are different as are their perspectives. This was an absorbing story. Which was rich in historical detail.

Perhaps a bit of a riff on the Mitford sisters, the novel is entertaining, and the historical background is always, for me, a fascinating one. For a look inside how the war impacted a family, this is a good read.
