I requested this one back in the day as I had every intention of reading it. However, its been years and I still haven't gotten around to it and while I feel guilty at not reviewing a book I think that I need to admit to myself that I won't be reading this one anytime soon....if at all.
This was the 3rd in the Once a Marine series, and follows the same romantic suspense theme with a H unwilling to open up, and a damsel in distress.
Alyssa finds out her stepfather has been paying for her fiance to marry her in an effort to gain control of her company. She's shocked by the now ex-fiance's response when she ends it. When he threatens to expose secrets from her past, which put people in danger, she does the only thing she can think of. She turns to Hunter, the man she's had a crush on since she was 14. She knows he's damaged from his time in the service, but she trusts him with her life. More importantly she trusts him with the life of the child she gave up for adoption.
At times it was hard to see what Hunter was going through mentally. It was also hard to root for him when he was hurtful towards Alyssa. Personally, I think there should have been more groveling.
All in all, it was a great series. The 1st book will always be my favorite, but I would definately reread these again.
Exposing the Heiress is book number three in author Jennifer Apodaca’s Once A Marine series. When I stared this book I had no idea it was part of a series and now that I’ve finished it, I will certainly be reading the others in the series. I loved this book!
I love friends to lovers stories, romantic suspense, and stories with a damaged hero. This fell into all of those categories and was packed with heat, emotion, and tons of suspense. Two childhood friends who went in very different directions end up together in a suspenseful situation and soon realize the attraction they both felt, but thought to have been one-sided, was in fact very much a mutual one.
The wealthy and successful Alyssa is being stalked by her now ex-fiancee and is some serious danger. The damaged and multifaceted ex-Marine sniper Hunter is her savior. Together they are positively delicious. Hunter is strong, determined, broken from the war and is clawing his way back to normal. I loved everything about him. He has a soft side we get to see about halfway in and I adored it. He is also very intense and dirty talks like a champ. Total yum! Alyssa is also strong and a tough cookie when it comes to dealing with the man threatening her very existence. The suspense aspect of this book had me on the edge of my seat and I was so worried for these two amazing characters!
Overall this book has it all and I highly recommend! And as soon as I finish typing this, I will be heading over to buy the other two in the series. Thank you, Ms. Apodaca, for a wonderful read!
