I wanted to love this book so much because I 'm a huge fan of Guillermo del Toro but it it kinda of let me down. I was expecting so much more! It was flat and boring :(.
I thought this was a really well written YA book that was very unique and original. If you like gross, cringe worthy reading then this one is for you. When kids start going missing, Jim knows that he has to do something to help out. With Jim's dad being overprotective, how is he going to be able to sneak off and try and help? You will have to read this one to find out how it all ends for Jim and the kids that have gone missing.
I think this one is going to be a hit with the YA and a good read for everyone!
I book talk this all the time to kids who are fans of super gross horror with a slightly humorous bent. I laughed, I cringed, and I definitely was glad this didn't have scratch and sniff!
I was most intrigued about what a children's book by Guillermo del Toro would encompass. I was not disappointed. It was a very entertaining read, and it had plenty of guts and gore to satisfy the del Toro fans. This book would be perfect for boys ages 13-16. I think they would gravitate to the humor and gore. With that being said, I was entertained by it as well. It didn't feel childish. It kept my interest and I would definitely recommend it to others.
