It might be because this is not my sort of book anymore, but The Lost Codex did not appeal to me at all. It could also be that it's number three on a series I haven't read at all or my disinterest for all things Biblical.
That being said, I can't deny it has great pacing and for a minute it kept me guessing, but all those positives went away when I realized how racist and misogynist the book turns, leaving me uncomfortable for most of it until I decided to drop it altogether. You see it in the way the one woman is constantly belittled and described as afraid while the MEN in capitals never show an ounce of fear, not to mention the sexual undertones that turn unwanted and still never discouraged.

The book Lost Codex by Alan Jacobson is an excellent story. Jacobson based his fictional story on fact and creative inspiration. The plot, characters, twists and turns were cleverly planned to keep the reader interested and not wishing to stop.
I highly recommend this book for all those who enjoy an action packed tale filled with historical facts.. Thank you for the opportunity to read and enjoy.

I just could not finish this book. Too much detail about the inner workings of all those "alphabet" agencies, too much idle conversation that served as exposition. I was just bored. I was surprised because I have read other Alan Jacobson books, including at least one featuring Karen Vail, but this one just didn't grab me.

Not my first Alan Jacobson novel but my first in this OPSIG Team Black series. I was a little daunted by the length of the book, but I should not have been as it is excellent and the pages flew past. Ancient documents threaten to destabilise the current world order. Religion as we know is very divisive and responsible for most of the world conflicts. These ancient religious scripts stand at the centre of a battle between foreign governments and religious extremist groups, endangering the lives of millions.
What makes this book exciting is the inclusion of all the right ingredients of spies, politics and a good dose of terror. The OPSIG team are tasked to find the documents and capture/eliminate those responsible for the attacks in the US. The story moves at a fast pace, providing a very thrilling and exciting read you don't want to put down. The author has skillfully linked current terror threats that are commonplace today to the existence of old religious scrolls to weave an excellent thriller.

The book started out with an archeological dig and finding ancient manuscripts. Therefore, I thought the book would be about this subject.

Unfortunately, I was wrong. It turned into a military/spy story with teams going after what each thought was the bad guy. Jihadist, bombings, killings and torture were the main lines in the book. After half the book was about these groups trying to stop each other, I gave up. I wanted the archeological line, not mayhem and murder. Yes, there were trying to locate an ancient manuscript but there was just too much about the teams and how they went about their “work” for me.

If you are interested in these issues, then this book is a great read for you.

A weak attempt at propaganda writing. Little development. Rambling plot. Story doesn't tie up all the loose ends- misleading title.

Love the Karen Vail & OPSIG series and this book did not disappoint. Its always interesting to see the development of the characters through the books in a series.
