I have to say I was a tad disappointed with The Good Lier which follows the story of Roy a career con man and Betty his final 'mark' but there is something intriguing about Betty making the ending all the more surprising.

While the first 15% and the final 10% off the book was engaging and exciting to read. I found the rest convoluted, slow and difficult to stay focused. In fact the book very nearly became a DNF

While the story is fun, I didn't really find it believable and the characters were not all that relatable or even likeable.

Did not see that twist coming. Gripping story with very intriguing characters. Can't wait to see the film.

Liked the book but could not totally immerse myself into it.

I didn't enjoy this very much, I felt the main character wasn't very sympathetic so I just didn't feel for him!

The good liar by Nicholas Searle.
This is a life told back to front.
This is a man who has lied all his life.
Roy is a conman living in a small English town, about to pull off his final con. He is going to meet and woo a beautiful woman and slip away with her life savings. But who is the man behind the con?
What has he had to do to survive a life of lies?
And who has had to pay the price?
A very slow read just couldn't get into it. 3*.
